How to install D&D maps in Foundry VTT with Moulinette

If you're already using Foundry VTT to run your role-playing games, you can easily import battlemap packs into Foundry using Moulinette Cloud & your Patreon account. This guide will show you how to install Moulinette & how to import your content from DnDungeon!

About Moulinette

Moulinette is a module for Foundry VTT that lets you easily access all the content & packs from a Patreon subscription directly within Foundry without having to manage your own content library on your computer. It's a great way to cut down on administrative work for your campaign.

Importing content

Grab the maps

The first step is to grab your maps. DnDungeon has hundreds of maps available with the click of a button, including seasonal, situational, weather, and weather variants amongst hundreds of others, so if you're not already one, click here to enter the DnDungeon & become a patron!

Install Moulinette

The second step is to install Moulinette in Foundry VTT.

  1. From Foundry's administrative configuration screen, head to the Add-on Modules tab.
  2. Click on 'Install Module' and search for 'Moulinette'. You'll see lots of Moulinette modules pop up. For DnDungeon, you'll wanna install Moulinette Core, Moulinette Scenes, & Moulinette Tiles.
  3. Once they're all installed, head to your campaign world and enable the three modules from the Manage Modules section of the Game Settings toolbar on the right. Check the boxes and hit 'Save Module Settings'; this will enable the modules in your Game World.

Link to your DnDungeon subscription

The third step is to link your Moulinette installation to your Patreon account.

  1. When you've got your campaign world open, on the left toolbar, click the Mouinette hammer icon. From the sub-menu, select Scenes.
  2. If you've never used Moulinette Cloud before, you'll get a message that Moulinette hasn't been authenticated with Patreon yet. Click on the authenticate button to open the link in your web browser.
  3. Sign into Patreon (if necessary) & authorize Moulinette so that it can observe your patron status. Then, return to Moulinette.

Access DnDungeon

  1. From the drop-down menu on the top bar of Moulinette's dialog window, select DnDungeon.
  2. Browse or search for the map scene you're after. Click the scene to select it.
  3. In the scene dialog that appears, click "Import Scene" to bring it into your world.
  4. Your scene will be deposited into the /Moulinette/DnDungeon folder in your Scenes tab on the right. You can move it out of that folder into your campaign's categorization afterwards.

And that's it! That's the final step.
